Best AR Object Marker Practices for Solo Object

Hello all,

I'm diving into AR object marker tracking. Going into this I thought it would work one way but now that I am messing around with this I am finding out that it works another way. I'm trying to isolate an object marker so that it can be reused in many different environments. But this seems to be harder than expected to accomplish. Since the Map Manager tracks the whole environment it adds feature points from objects that I don't want. Obviously this can be troublesome if I try to change the location of the object marker. Here are some images that convey what I'm trying to accomplish: https://imgur.com/a/AtrQrm5 You can see the test object marker and various test environments.

What are the best practices to try an accomplish this type of object marker tracking?

Is this sort of methodology of object marker tracking possible?

Should I try another method?

Any advice on how I can better imrpove tracking of a single object is greatly appreciated!

1. SDK Version - Latest
2. Development Environment - Unity-Android and Unity-iOS
3. Tracker/Scanner - Object Tracker
4. License Type - Free for development but we purchase various degrees of liceneses depending on the client project.
5. Target Device - Mobile Phones and Tablets

Thank you,

Ethan

Hello.

Thanks for using our SDK.

I think your target is too small and the lighting state is very different.

Therefore, Our AR SDK is difficult to track or recognize that targets.

Thanks.

What are minimum and maximum recommanded sizes for object tracking?

What's the latest Map Manager App version? I see in the tutorial videos the Map Manager looks like it has features I dont have. In videos it shows a outline of the mesh it is mapping but I don't see that in my version. 4.0.0.

Hello.

The latest version of map manager is made by SDK 4.0.0 and it doesn't show mesh outline.

The current object tracking is appropriate for an object sized 0.3~1.0m and works well with respect to a near planar object such as a car engine room.

We are preparing the new SDK 4.1 including improved map manager and object tracker.

Thanks.

Hello and Happy New Year,

Thanks for the info again. A few more questions...

Is there an estimated date of SDK 4.1's release? How is the object tracker improved?

What if I wanted to object track a 24ft object? What would you recommend I do?

-Best,

Ethan

Hello.

Thanks for your greeting.

We have a plan to release SDK 4.1 in the end of January.

The new object tracker is enable to cover all direction of a target object and its tracking performance is improved.

Actually, I'm not sure whether the new object tracker can cover 24ft, so I hope you to try it after the release of SDK 4.1.

If you send me a photo of your target object, I'll let you know whether it is possible or not.

Thanks.
