Having issues with object scanning (Visual Slam) and hotspot pin placement :

Please provide your development details as below;

I am trying to scan a large size object (Ex: Chair) with visual slam. But the mapping takes some time and if move around the object to complete the scanning the mapping area gizmo is also moving. It is not staying at the center of the object, everytime I move I need to adjust the mapping area gizmo.

Hotspot pins are also viewed in a differant position if move from initial position. (I.e : In one position angle hotspot looks correctly placed, if I move to another angle the hotspot pin is in differant position.)

Is it possible to use object scanning and tracking for large sized objects?

Can the hotspots be pinned at the exact persistant position of the slam mapped data with positional and rotational tracking?

Kindly let me know if there is any solution.

Thank you in advance : )

1. SDK Version: 5.0.1
2. Development Environment: (eg. Unity-Android, Unity-iOS, Native Android, Native iOS) : Unity
3. Tracker/Scanner: Object Scanner
4. License Type(Free / Pro-One Time Fee / Pro-Subscription / Enterprise): Free
5. Target Device(Optional): iPAD

We can assist better if you attach screenshots of issues.

Thanks for your interest to our MAXST AR SDK.

Yes, Visual SLAM Tool is optimized to create Medium Scale(0.3m-1.5m) objects and space 3D map.

Visual SLAM Tool is a tool that maps 3D objects by learning the point cloud of non-moving 3D objects.

Therefore, if you keep moving the 3D object, the initially created bounding box will continue to move and the learning will not be accurate.

Also, if you learning the moving 3D object, pins will be move.

Thanks for your reply.

We are not moving the physical object. We are only moving around with the device in order to map the physical object.

But the bouding box is moving and rotated sometimes. For position and scale we use the gizmo's to readjust. But how to readjust bounding box rotation.

Is it possible to select a specfic xyz position in scan data and place a hotspot?

The hotspot should in exact same point, whichever angle we view it from our device. But now hotspot seems to be in diffeant positions on viewing it from differant angles.

Kindly let me know if there is a solution.

Thanks and Regards,

Prabhu.

The movement of the object occurs when the object point cloud is small and the bounding box and pins(you called hotspot) is unable to stable.

If you refer to the Object Tracker Tutorial. You can learn to xyz moving and placing pins.

Please make sure Object Tracker Tutorial.
